Cottom foods was started in 1998 by Chris Cottom who had a clear goal; to produce the best sausage and black pudding in the area, perfect for all the family. Chris’s focus on the quality, consistency and flavour profile made Cottom foods products a local household name.

Over the last 20 years, not much has changed. Chris is still as passionate about his recipe now as he was back then, and it is still produced in the Widnes factory by a small team using traditional techniques and craft skills. The range is sold in local butchers, convenience stores and café restaurants as well as through high quality distributing partners.

The business was bought in 2015 by Will Munro who has embraced Chris’s belief in the product. Will is a fourth generation sausage maker who learnt the skills and techniques from his father in the family butchers business founded in the North East over one hundred years ago.

Will has worked in food manufacturing for his whole career. Graduating from Manchester University with a food technology degree, he has worked for large manufacturers in Technical, Production and General Management roles, most recently as Head of Operations running multiple abattoirs and food processing plants for one of the major retailers.

With a real passion for customer service and a belief in growing the business through supporting his customers in growing their business, Will is thoroughly enjoying this new challenges and working with the brilliant Cottom Foods team.
